How to Avoid A New Health Crisis

People in the US have been taking cyanide pills for years, but the drug is becoming a growing concern as the epidemic in West Africa reaches its fourth year.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that between 50 and 75 million people in the world have already been poisoned by the drugs, which have a similar chemical makeup to a form of cyanide, but are more potent.

The WHO says more than 200,000 deaths have been recorded in West African countries, most of them caused by the pills.
